The Joys of Volunteering

There are many many ways that you can help Save The Children through volunteering, you don't have to go to far away places and need medical qualifications

You can do a vital job as a volunteer fundraiser - everyone's good at something even if its just doing as they are told or giving out orders

I hope to try and illustrate on these pages just what it means to be a volunteer fund-raiser and to show that everyone can fit into the jigsaw somewhere

Volunteers work in Save the Children shops or support the various fundraising branches throughtout the country.

Branches need a chairman to act as a figurehead representing the branch and to take charge of any meetings held at the branch, they also need a Secretary to act as the link through which the branch correspondence is channelled he/she is also responsible for convening any meetings. The other required officer is the Treasurer responsible for the books and finance matters. In addition to these three, a branch may have a press officer, minutes secretary etc etc.. to help spread the load in large or busy branches

Branches need support, not just from within, but from outside the committee structure. Many people are put off by the thought of being on a committee, nevertheless they still can have a role to play, for instance in feeding money they may raise through the branch or supporting branch events.

Save the Children is grateful for any support it can get, if you would like to fund raise, be it through a branch or on your own your best starting place would be to contact Save the Children directly
