Star-studded single to help children in emergencies
Posted on Thursday, October 20, 2005 @ 17:00:05 UTC by admin
Sharon Osbourne has released star-studded version of 'Tears in Heaven' to raise funds for Save The Children’s vital work with children affected by emergencies throughout the world, notably survivors of the tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.

The Eric Clapton classic, written in 1991 following the death of his son, has been re-recorded by an extraordinary cast of vocalists including Elton John, Mary J. Blige, Rod Stewart, Gwen Stefani, Katie Melua, Andrea Bocelli, Phil Collins, Robert Downey Jr and Pink. The track also brings together rock legends Steven Tyler, Gavin Rossdale, Velvet Revolver and -- of course -- Kelly and Ozzy Osbourne.

Tears from Heaven is available exclusively as a digital download from 7digital.com, who have pledged the entire download fee (£0.99 by credit card, £1.50 via mobile phone) to Save the Children.

The recording sessions took place throughout Europe, the UK and the US with producer Mark Hudson. The Los Angeles sessions took place at The Village – the same studio where Clapton recorded the original.

"The magnitude of these natural disasters surpasses anything we’ve seen in our lifetime" says Executive Producer Sharon Osbourne. "With this single and other relief efforts our intent is to keep these tragedies at the forefront of everyone’s minds. We must not forget and do all we can to help these people rebuild their lives. Music fans who purchase this single will aid the relief efforts and own an historic recording for which these talented artists graciously donated their time."
