Christmas is a time for hope so it is even more upsetting to
hear about this latest act of barbarism at this time.
On behalf of Save
the Children Volunteers in the North West of England I would like to express
our sadness and condolences to the friends and family of Abhakar el Tayeb, a
pharmacist, and mechanic Yacoub Abdelnabi Ahmed who were murdered in an attack
on a humanitarian convoy a few days ago.
The knock on effect of this
latest atrocity is that Save the Children UK has had to take the painful
decision to temporarily suspend its operations in the Darfur region of Sudan.
When will the UN and other nations force the waring parties to adhere to
the agreed cease-fire?!
