The leaders of the G8 - the world's richest nations - gather in Germany next week. In 2000, the United Nations set the eight Millenium Development Goals to meet the needs of the world's poorest people, including halving extreme poverty. This summit is historic, because it marks the half-way point to the target date of 2015 for meeting the goals. However, unless the rich nations take more decisive action we will fail to meet the goals and fail those in poverty. Join a massive gathering on the banks of the River Thames this Saturday 2 June to give Tony Blair a good send-off as he heads for Germany. If you can't be there, make your voice heard by emailing German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
