Liberia - MECHLIN BRIDGE

The bridge

When the Mechlin bridge was erected recently its floor was decked with planks in order to facilitate the movement of relief assistance to the thousands of displaced people living in Buchanan. At that time, the traffic on the bridge was restricted to ten ton vehicles.

In order for relief organisations to be able to transport large quantities of relief supplies to the displaced people in Buchanan, SCF replaced the plank deckings on the bridge with steel chequerades.

With steel deckings on the floor of the bridge, the work on Mechlin bridge is finally completed. Vehicles which are between 25 to 35 tons can now be used to ferry relief goods over bridge.
